Scholarship Application Information
The Snow Fest Scholarship Contest is a fantastic opportunity to raise money for local non-profit organizations and extend the pageantry that has been such an important part of our past winter carnival.
Each candidate choses a local non-profit organization to raise money for. This is done through ticket sales through the tahoesnowfest.org website or with a personal QR code that can be used at events or in person. The top two ticket sellers receive a 500.00$ Scholarship outside the 4000.00$ for first place and 3000.00$ for second place.
Guidelines and Requirements:
All candidates must be seniors at any of our local high schools (North Tahoe High School, Sierra High School, Truckee High School, Coldstream Alternative, Tahoe Expeditionary Academy, Squaw Valley Academy or Incline High School).
Candidates must submit an application that includes a personal essay, GPA, extracurricular activities, work experience, and sponsorship information. In addition, each candidate must provide a headshot photo in jpeg format for SnowFest publicity purposes.
100% of the candidates ticket sales will go directly to the non-profit of their choice with a chance to win a 500.00$ Scholarship.
Candidates will receive a QR code with the ability to start selling tickets only when their application has been submitted and approved with no missing information.
Applications will open January 11th and will close February 8th at midnight..
All applicants have the opportunity to sell tickets.
Candidates will be primarily judged on their essay and application. Six applicants will then be selected to move forward to the interview process. From the interviews, one candidate will be selected as first place and win 4000.00$ scholarship and one candidate will be selected as second place and win 3000.00$ Essays will be reviewed by a local panel of judges, including school faculty.
The interviews will take place at a location to be determined and will last approximately 30 minutes. A SnowFest Committee member will call you closer to the date to set up a specific time.
The Scholarship winners will be announced at the closing ceremonies at River Ranch on Mar 9, 2025.
During the coronation event (Kick-Off Party), candidates are to be introduced.
Scholarship money will be awarded at each participant's graduation awards night in the spring or awarded upon graduation.
Ticket prices are $5 per ticket or $20 for 5 tickets.
